As a community, we will beat food poverty

At the Big Community Takeaway, people in crisis are at the heart of what we do

Food poverty is a pressing issue and we’re here to help. By delivering a high-quality, two course hot meal once a week to those in need, we support them when times are tough.

Fuelled by the care of our volunteers, we will eliminate food poverty in Chesham. Sadly this is a very real issue, even in an area as affluent as the Chilterns. It shouldn’t be like that and we add our voice to the campaign to end food poverty throughout the country.

How we do this

Through a network of organisations, we provide a gateway to other services to enable people to get back on their feet. We work with other communities and organisations, such as Restore Hope, the Clare Foundation, Buckinghamshire Council, schools, churches and mosques, to help those in need.
